ISL 201 ASSIGNMENT NO 1 SOLUTION
ANSWER NO 1
Islam
is the religion of equality. In Islam all are equal in every regard. They have
equal rights and equal opportunities in their lives. All - black, white, red
and yellow-are at one in justice, freedom and equality. For Islam, true
excellence lies, not in the intellectual or manual attainments of people of
differing gifts; but in the level of piety and fear of God.
Allah says in Holy Quran:-
“Verily
the most honourable of you with Allah is that who has At-Taqwa”
The Prophet in his last
sermon said:-
"All
mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a
non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over
black nor does a black have any superiority over white except by piety and good
action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the
Muslims constitute one brotherhood."
Explanation
Islam
clearly states from the above quote in the Qur’an people are made equal in
God’s eyes and one’s true test of character is not decided by what “tribe or
ethnicity” he/she is from but rather how virtuous and pious the individual.
Islam stresses the point that all of the God fearing believers of this world
are a part of a single brotherhood.
We
cannot divide the humans on the basis of their families, professions, wealth, education
age or sex. Because, all human
beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Islam promotes the lesson
of brotherhood. Allah says in Quran:-
“And
verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord
and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). But people have cut off their
affair (of unity), between them, into sects: each party rejoices in that which
is with itself. But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time,”
Islam provides equal rights to men and women
in a society. Allah says in Quran:-
“O mankind! Fear your Lord Who (initiated)
your creation from a single soul, then from it created its mate, and from these
two spread (the creation of) countless men and women.”
This Verse clearly expounds
that man or woman are created from a single entity and are basically equal
genders. As a gender, one is not superior to the other.
In
this regard everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms, without
distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion,
political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other
status.
Islam
gives us the lesson of equality and brotherhood of mankind, Islam adds that if
there can be any real difference between men and men it cannot be one of race,
color, country or language, but of ideas, beliefs and principles. Two children
of the same mother, though they may be equal from the point of view of common
ancestry, will have to go their different ways in life if their beliefs and
moral conduct differ from one another. On the contrary two persons, one being
in the East and the other in the West, even thought geographically and
outwardly separated from one another by vast distances, will tread the same
path in life if they have identified fundamental tenet. Islam seeks to build a
principled and ideological society as against the racial, national and
parochial societies existing in the world. The basis of co-operative effort
among men in such a society is not one's birth but a creed and a moral
principle.
Islam
gives the right to protest against tyranny, freedom of expression and rules not
above the law. Law is equal for everyone, if he may be a man or woman, slave or
free, illiterate or educated, poor or rich, president or common man.
